Greece 2025
The Beach Wrestling World Series rolls on, and after the historic African debut in Casablanca, the action now returns to Europe for the penultimate stop of the 2025 season in Paralia Katerini, Greece, on 27–28 September.

Nestled at the foot of the legendary Mount Olympus, Katerini Beach provides a stage steeped in history and mythology, the perfect backdrop for the modern gladiators of the sand to continue their quest for World Series glory. Fans can expect not only breathtaking competition but also the passionate atmosphere of Greek supporters who have embraced beach wrestling with energy and pride.

This year’s stop on Katerini Beach is set to be the biggest of the 2025 season so far, with record participation of 110 wrestlers from 16 federations highlighting the sport’s continued global growth. It follows the U17 and U20 Beach Wrestling World Championships held just before, which will welcome over 270 athletes from 24 countries. The U17 tournament will count towards the quotas for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

Casablanca delivered unforgettable scenes, with Morocco’s Sabah Kaneb becoming her nation’s first ever Beach Wrestling World Series champion, and team Iran storming to a clean sweep of the men’s gold medals. Now the question is: who can carry that momentum forward, and who will rise to the occasion on Greek sands?

The women’s divisions remain fiercely competitive, with champions crowned from Morocco, Ukraine, Greece, and the USA across the opening legs of the World Series. In Katerini, Greece’s Dimitra Androutsou will aim to shine in front of a home crowd, while reigning champions such as Eliana Bommarito and Iryna Pasichnyk continue their battle for heavyweight dominance.

On the men’s side, Iran’s sweep in Casablanca has set a marker, but challengers from Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and the USA will be determined to respond and get back on the top step of the podium. With only two stops remaining in the 2025 season, the pressure is mounting and the sands of Katerini could prove decisive in shaping the champions of the year.

The penultimate leg of the 2025 Beach Wrestling World Series takes place on the last weekend of September and will be broadcast live worldwide on the Beach Wrestling World Series website and YouTube channel. Whether beachside in Greece or following from around the globe, fans are in for another weekend of passion, power, and spectacular wrestling action.
