POREC, Croatia (June 11) -- The U15, U17 and U20 European Championships in Beach Wrestling were held in Porec, Croatia before the Beach Wrestling World Series last week.

Ukraine dominated the competition by winning all but one team trophies. Georgia managed to snatch one -- men's U17 team trophy -- and stop Ukraine from a clean sweep.

In men's U20 category, three gold medals were won by Ukraine. Maksym RUDENKO (UKR) win the 70kg gold medal, Mikita KANEVSKYI (UKR) won at 80kg and Viacheslav BABKOV (UKR) won the gold medal at 90kg, a weight which only had Ukrainian wrestlers entered.

At +90kg, Angelos APOSTOLIDIS (GRE) won all of his round-robin bouts to emerges as the gold medal winner. Dmytro ZILETSKYI (UKR) finished with a silver medal.

In women's U20 competition, Ukraine swept all four gold medals. Alevtyna LIASHENKO (UKR) won gold at 50kg over compatriot Daria MASLOVA (UKR), Karolina POPLAVSKA (UKR) added a second at 60kg before Yevheniia KAKAMA (UKR) won at 70kg and Daria KONSTANTYNOVA (UKR) at +70kg.

The women's U17 competition was a different story as it had three winners from different countries. For Ukraine, Iryna BUKHTINA (UKR) won the gold medal at 65kg, the lone gold for the country.

Romania won gold medal at 55kg as Simona PUSCASU (ROU) defeated Veronika DULENCHUK (UKR), 3-0, in the final to clinch the top medal. Eleni GAVRINIOTI (GRE) beat Jagoda GORSKA (POL), 3-1, to win the bronze medal.

At 75kg, Elli SEITARIDOU (GRE) emerged as the winner from the round-robin tournament. She won the gold medal and Iringo DERI (SRB) won silver. Viktoriia DIDUKH (UKR) ended up with the bronze medal.

In the men's section of U17, Georgia had four finalists but won only one gold medal. At 90kg, Demur BAGDAVADZE (GEO) completed a 3-1 victory Artem ZALVOVSKYI (UKR) in the final to win the gold medal.

However, his teammates Rati BERIDZE (GEO), Luka MAKHARADZE (GEO) and Nuradin MUSTAFAEV (GEO) fell at the final hurdle.

Beridze faced  Mykyta KUZMENKO (UKR) in the 60kg and dropped but was handed a 3-1 loss. Ruslan VALIYEV (AZE) handed Makharadze a 3-0 loss via superiority to win gold at 70kg while Nihad SULEYMANLI (AZE) also won via superiority, 4-1, over Mustafaev.
