This past season, China’s beach wrestling scene powered up with two major national competitions and an intensive youth training camp, signalling the country’s commitment to the sport’s next generation.

The National Beach Wrestling Championships welcomed athletes of all age groups to compete on a stunning seaside stage — with sunbathers and rolling waves providing a unique backdrop to the field of play. The vibrant setting showcased the sport’s appeal and brought beachgoers closer to the action than ever before.

A dedicated U16 national tournament followed, serving as the official qualifying event for the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, in 2026. To complement the competition, an eight-day U16 training camp immersed young athletes in beach wrestling techniques, physical conditioning, and tactical development under the guidance of experienced coaches.

Together, these initiatives form part of China’s broader strategy to deepen its talent pool, raise performance standards, and prepare athletes for major international beach wrestling events.
