Azerbaijan hosts national beach wrestling championships
BAKU, Azerbaijan (July 22) -- The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation hosted the Azerbaijan Beach Wrestling Championships on July 16 and 17.
This was the first time that women's Beach Wrestling was also held in Azerbaijan, marking an important milestone for the development of the sport in the country.
More than 150 wrestlers from 26 teams took part in the event. The primary objective was to expand our national talent pool, develop new prospects, and prepare our wrestlers for major upcoming international events -- most importantly, the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
The championship not only showcased the rapid growth of beach wrestling in Azerbaijan, but also laid a strong foundation for the next generation of athletes to succeed on the international stage.
